The Phragmites Working Group is a collaborative team focused on addressing the significant threat posed by the invasive species Phragmites australis throughout the Long Point Walsingham Forest Priority Place (LPWF).

Group priorities include:

• Implementing a long-term, landscape-scale management plan for Phragmites on both private and public lands within the LPWF.
• Improving habitat by treating Phragmites, conducting secondary re-treatments, and removing dead Phragmites stands.
• Enhancing coastal wetlands, shorelines, and riparian areas.
• Monitoring Species at Risk encountered and assessing the effects of management on aquatic systems.

Partner organizations involved in this effort include The Nature Conservancy of Canada (NCC), Canadian Wildlife Service (CWS), Ontario Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry (MNRF), Birds Canada (BC), and the Long Point Phragmites Action Alliance (LPPAA).
